My Experience with this tool

The concept of this tool easily grabbed my attention, so I decided to put it to the test. I came across a programming guide PDF sitting on my desktop and uploaded it into the site. The file consisted of a lengthy concept explanation and an exercise. I asked the chatbot to “Locate the exercise in the guide” and within seconds it was able to navigate through a large file and direct me to what I was looking for.

Now, let’s see if it can generate an accurate summary of an e-book. I’ll test it with an Agatha Christie detective book.

Perfect! It summarized the events and added a citation to all of them, along with highlighting the relevant text excerpts.

Pricing and Plans

Humata provides a free plan, but it has certain limitations. The main factor is the maximum amount of pages a PDF you upload can have and the number of users that can use the plan. Also if you care about optimal writing quality, you should choose a plan that has GPT-4 support as that provides the best answers.

Pros

  • This tool can be used for free
  • Saves you time searching through long files
  • Has good writing quality
  • Suggests questions you might want to ask

Cons

  • Limited PDF pages depending on the chosen plan
  • May sometimes make mistakes
  • The interface could be better

Is Humata AI safe?

One of the main worries when using newly released tools is the safety and privacy aspect, so is this tool safe?

As you can see this company takes privacy very seriously. They have GDPR and ISO certifications and have almost completed SOC 2 compliance, which is an industry standard. The site has SHA 256-bit encryption to lock all files in their system in order to make your data only visible to you. The TLS 1.3 protocol provides security between their servers and your browser with HTTPS being served over signed Cloudflare and Google Cloud connections. If you are still concerned feel free to read their privacy policy to find out exactly how your data is processed and stored.

How to get started with Humata AI

In order to use Humata, you need to sign up for a free account. You can do so by clicking here and then going to sign up.

After that you enter your email address and password, then click continue.

Now fill in your name and specify a company name if that is applicable to you.

The final step is going over to your email inbox and verifying by going to the link they sent you. When you have finished the sign up process you will be taken to the home screen. Here you can upload a PDF by dragging it into the window or by using the Upload button.

You can also delete any unwanted files by clicking on the three dots, then delete. For people that have signed up for one of their paid plans, there is a chat support function on the top right-hand corner of the page.

To open the file click on the Ask button next to the file.

Final Verdict

Overall I would recommend giving Humata AI a chance especially if you often have to work with lengthy or hard to understand files. The technology is fairly early and it does sometimes make minor mistakes, but I would definitely say that there are use cases for it at its current state. If you want to try out the free version find a PDF that has no more than 60 pages in length.

Humata recently secured $3.5M in funding from Google’s Gradient Ventures, Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest, M13, and other investors, which is a significant milestone for the company and is sure to aid in improving the tool’s capabilities and writing quality in the near future.
